Fathers Day Present

July 16, 2008

Finally my Fathers Day present has arrived. (A little late, but that’s the UK postal system for you!)

I opened the parcel and was greeted with a few drips of water.

“What the hell is that?” I thought.

Inside was a plastic box which I promptly opened to find out where the water was coming from. I wasn’t expecting what I saw.

It was a piece of grass.

On closer inspection though, this was no ordinary piece of grass.

Grand Slam Turf

Grand Slam Turf

This was a piece of turf from the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. A piece of grass that Wales had played on during their triumphant Six Nations Grand Slam Campaign in 2008.

This was something very different and a present I’d never have thought of.

It will now take pride of place in our garden, in its own little pot. We can’t have it mixing with all that English grass!!!

Thank you very much Ellie, and Liam, as it arrived after he was born! x x

England 19-26 Wales

February 3, 2008

Wales have won at Twickenham for the first time in 20 years!

It was a thrilling game, and a really good comeback from the Welsh side, who trailed by 10 points at half-time, to win 26-19. Read the match report here. I thought we’d had it at half-time, but credit to the boys, they pulled it out of the bag.

Congratulations to Warren Gatland for his first victory in charge, and also to Ryan Jones in his first game as captain.

Lets hope that we can win against everyone else now, and reclaim our Six Nations crown!
