Yesterday was a sad day in the Jones’ household.
I received a phone call from the local rescue centre saying that they had a space available for our dog, Max. We had spent a few months trying to find him some alternative accommodation, as he was getting too much for us to deal with. In a way it was a huge relief to get the phone call.
Max is a really friendly dog, and is great with everyone. It is just at times, due to his size, that he can get a bit excited. Recently though he has been trying to get dominant with Gemma recently. This is not a good situation, given Gemma’s current condition. It has been causing her quite a lot of stress. We’ve also not been able to give him the attention that he deserves. We are all feeling a bit sad about it, but it is the best thing not just for Max, but also for us.
I dropped him off at the centre yesterday afternoon, and he seemed quite happy. He was having a big fuss made of him, something that he really enjoys, and seemed willing to go into his pen.
We do hope that he finds himself a good home, one that spend the time with him that we were not able to provide. He has age on his side which will be an attraction to anyone looking.
Good luck Max. I hope you find a good home soon.
Sorry.

This is Max, our 11-month old Labrador cross.

We are looking to re-home him as we are having great difficulty in being able to spend time with him. Gemma got a new job a few months back and since then we’ve struggled to give Max the attention that he deserves. He is really great company, and he likes a lot of attention and fuss. This is something that we are not able to give him fully at the present time. Finding him a new home would be the best thing for him.
He needs a loving home, who will be able to take him on long walks and burn off some of his never ending energy.
Max is a really friendly dog, but very energetic. He is house trained, and is very good with children. Ellie, our 2-year old daughter, gives him loads of attention, some off which he probably doesn’t want, but he puts up with it. Because of his size I would say that he would suitable for older children, as he can get a bit excited with company.
Even though he is only 11-months old, he is quite a large dog, and would require a home that has a bit of space. We are struggling to cope with him in our house.
Max was neutered when he was 6-months old, and is fully up to date with all vaccinations etc.
We live in the North West of England. If anyone is interested in re-homing Max, or you have any questions, please leave a comment.

Aaaaargh!
Our dog, Max, is getting worse and worse. After my last post about him, his destructive nature knows no bounds.
In the past week he has destroyed cutlery, a tin opener, vegetable peeler and countless items of fruit. Nothing can be left on the worktops when we go to bed, or have to leave him when we go out. Nothing is safe. It is getting beyond a joke now.
I am getting more and more uncomfortable with him. He has started to challenge Gemma on a few occasions, and seems to have no respect for her at all, and this is worrying. He will pounce on her when she turns her back on him, and will swipe at her if she tries to tell him off for something. That’s why we have to seriously think about rehoming him. He could become this way with Ellie, and that is the last thing that we want.
I’ve emailed our local dog rescue centre for some advice. I’m not going to be able to cope with him much longer. It is very stressful.

Dog for Sale. Free to a good home.
Really well behaved, doesn’t eat any kitchen utensils or anything with stuffing in (like his bed!)
(That last sentence was very sarcastic!!!!)
If anyone wants to take Max off our hands I’d be very grateful!
Max has become such a menace, and is getting far too big for our house. We never anticipated that he would get so big. He is still only 10 months old so he’s still growing! When we bought him, it was thought that he would grow to the size of a Labrador. But he is already past that size.
What I can’t understand is why he has to try and eat everything that is not his. He’s got his own toys and things, but would much rather chomp down on the kitchen spoons than his toys. Nothing is safe in the kitchen. We can’t leave anything within reach of him on the worktops because he will get the items and destroy them. Even things which you assume to be safe, are not. I have no idea how to stop him doing these things. Nothing seems to work.
I’ve had enough of him. He is causing me so much stress, and it’s not just me, Gemma is also feeling it too. I am just so frustrated with him. He is a really friendly dog, too friendly at times and loves attention. He is great with kids, especially Ellie. She can maul him and give him loads of hugs and he will put up with it.
Max is not a bad dog, but lately I’ve had no time for him. I haven’t got the time or the patience to spend with him to get him back on track. It is very frustrating.
It will be a sad day if we find him a new home. But in the long term it is the best thing for him and and also for us. He deserves someone who can spend loads of time with him.
I really feel like I’ve let him down. Sorry Max.

Got a phone call from Gemma just after I got into work.
“You’ll never guess what HE’s done now?” she said to me.
This is the photo that she sent me of what Max has done this morning:
Somehow he’s managed to get out of the kitchen, and decided he’d like a nice meal of wallpaper for breakfast. Not only that he’s given the sofa a good licking and it’s soaking wet
.
BLOODY DOG!!!!!

AAAAARGH!!!
Max has done my head in!!!!
Yesterday, Gemma, Ellie and I went to visit our families back home in Wrexham, and as we were going to be out for a lot of the day, we decided to take Max with us.
Usually this is not a problem, except usually on the journey he occasionally does puke or have a “dump” in his cage - not nice having to clean the crap off a dog after he has rolled around in it I can tell you
. Although this time he did really well, and never did a thing on either journey.
Instead, he decided he would empty his bladder all over the floor in Gemma’s parents’ house on a few occasions - and this is with taking him outside on regular occasions to do his business, but for some reason he won’t do anything! (At least this time it was only on the laminate floor and not on her bed!)
Then when we went to my parents, where he emptied his bladder on a couple of occasions on the carpet, and then he had a “dump” in the middle of the dining room while we were having dinner. Not a pleasant experience. It appeared to be a whole day’s worth too
. I must have lost count of the number of times that I took him outside to do what he needed, but he just didn’t do anything.
Something needs to be done, I’m reaching the end of my tether with him.

Max was looking all sorry for himself yesterday when I got home from work. And who can blame him?
The operation went well and Max is now testicle-free! I think he was still groggy from the anesthetic because he spent most of the evening flat-out asleep. Even with all the noise of making dinner didn’t stir him. After dinner, Max was fed and this seemed to perk him up a little, so much so that when we let him in the garden to do his business, he decided he wanted to run around like a whirlwind for about 15 minutes.
Nothing too wrong with you then?
Hopefully he’ll calm down once all the testosterone has been worked out of his system

Gemma and Ellie took Max to the vets this morning for his operation to be neutered.
I had a text from Gemma saying that Ellie was quite upset at leaving Max at the vets. Bless her
!
They left him quite happy at the vets, with him not really knowing what was going on. I expect him to be quite sore when he gets home.
I’ll keep you posted on how it goes.
