Woken In The Night

June 18, 2008

What’s the most unusual way that you’ve been woken in the night?

The other night Gemma and I were woken at about 4 o’clock in the morning by a really strange noise from outside. It sounded like someone was dying. A really loud groaning sound. I got out of bed to investigate.

I looked up and down the street. Nothing seemed obvious, I couldn’t see anything or anyone who would be making such a noise. But, just as I was about to return to bed there was the noise again. My attention was now focused across the road. And there was the source of all the noise!

One of our neighbours was hanging out of his bedroom window throwing his guts up. Not the most pleasant sight to greet my eyes at that time of the morning. He had his whole torso out of the window and was being sick on to his porch / garage roof below. The roof was angled away from the house towards the street and so there was a small river of sick running down the roof.

Why he couldn’t go to the bathroom, I have no idea! After laughing a little at his position, I returned to bed.

Only to be woken again an hour later by the same retching sound, and another torrent of stomach contents running across the roof. I went back to sleep shortly after before having to get out of bed to go to work.

The river of sick was still there as I was leaving for work. It was so obvious to any passer-by what had happened. Luckily though, by the time that I got home from work later that day all traces of the incident had been removed.

Kids Do Some Funny Things

May 27, 2008

Yesterday Ellie had Gemma and I laughing.

Gemma was talking to her Mum on the phone when Ellie asked to speak to Nana Mandy. Ellie wanted to tell her about her holiday, and to show her the photos that were taken at the holiday.

All excited, Ellie took the phone off Gemma and headed upstairs to her bedroom where the photos were to show Nana. Gemma and I remained downstairs where we listened to Ellie saying to Nana Mandy,

“Look Nana, photos.”

We just knew that she was then holding up the phone for Nana to have a look, as Nana kept saying to Ellie,

“I can’t see them”

As Ellie gets older there are going to be some more treats to savour.

This doesn’t work out…

December 12, 2007

Each day on my way to work I keep passing this sign:

Sign

It is for a housing development, which has 6 houses on this development. And according to the sign they have sold 75%.

Now, by my calculations that works out that they’ve sold 4 1/2 houses! Someone didn’t do their calculations correctly, did they? I really can’t see why someone would buy half a house.

Ellie’s getting really cheeky!

September 9, 2007

Ellie is becoming a really cheeky.

Yesterday we were in the supermarket and she came out with a cracking line that had me in pleats of laughter.

Ellie was in the trolley and she asked me to get her a grape from the bag in the trolley.

“Yes, ok,” I replied, “I’ll get you one in a minute.”

The reply from Ellie was just so quick, that I couldn’t help but laugh:

“No minute, Now!”

It was a moment that was just so funny, it will stay with me forever.

Little Miss Bossy-Boots

July 16, 2007

Ellie is turning into a right little Miss Bossy-Boots. I think she’s got it into her head that she’s now in charge.

She is getting a lot more confident in her speech now, and is quite happy giving out orders to everyone.

The classic line yesterday was were she ordered her little cousin, Dafydd to eat his dinner:

“Dafydd, dinner, eat!”

She had us all in stitches around the table.

And she’s always being helpful to Max, always directing him to where his water and food is. Telling him to “sit”, to get “down”. She is really growing up, and now that she’s found her voice there really is no shutting her up :)

Wouldn’t have her any other way :)

London Olympics Logo

June 7, 2007

Got this sent to me by email at work today:

“I was shocked to discover that the 2012 Olympics logo actually features Lisa Simpson on her knees in a compromising position”

Click on picture to see it in action :)

I thought it was pretty funny, especially as there is a lot of controversy over the logo.
