You don’t see it very often but when you do, its something that makes my blood boil!
What I saw today is still making me angry, even now, a few hours later as I am writing this.
As I came out of work this afternoon, and was waiting to cross the road to get into my car, my attention was caught by a car waiting at the junction. The first thing that caught my eye was the colour. It was a bright orange Ford Fiesta ST, not a subtle colour by any means.
The next thing I saw has made me angry. Sitting in the front passenger seat was a small boy, who I would guess was probably about 5 years old. Nothing too bad in that you might think. But if I tell you that the boy was perched on the edge of the seat, and not even wearing any sort of seatbelt or in a car seat, you can understand my anger.
What the hell was his mother thinking? Why would someone be so stupid, and reckless? Doesn’t this woman care about her son?
So many questions for her to answer. It’s times like that, that you wish that a police car was passing at the time.
Why would a parent let their child sit in the front seat, without restraints? I just don’t understand.
I really hope that she never does that again. Next time could be bad!

Call me bitter, angry, betrayed etc, but I think lots of people in society should just be rounded up and sent to live on the distant planet of Zob, where they cannot further degrade the current state of affairs.

I can’t imagine why any “loving” parent would not choose to obey the law and use an approved car seat for their kids. Transport Canada estimates when properly used, car seats have been found to reduce deaths by 90 per cent in the event of a collision. Surely, these stats must be similar in other countries as well.
I do know that some of these seats in Canada have been recalled because they present a choking hazard. None of the safety issues with the child restraint systems has resulted in any injuries. About 12,000 of these car seats were recalled. http://www.thestar.com/News/article/287855
I also know there was a warning about “puffy” winter clothes on kids interfering with the protection child car seats are supposed to provide. Apparently, the manufacturer says material more than five centimetres thick could jeopardize the functionality of the seat. http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/archive/December2007/21/c5608.html
Also there have been safety issues with regard to seat belts and air bags and front facing or rear facing child car seats.
On one hand, it would seem that most people believe child car seats should be required are they are focused on insuring that the seats are better designed to provide safety for kids. On the other, it seems that the woman you saw is yet to get with the program. So, let’s hope she and her child do not experience an accident before she locates her brain.

I prefer to think that they are all lined up and hung from the lamp posts along the motorway and there families are made to stand below them. But with regards to the police car, there is never one when you want one is there. But if you believe in karma, just know that they will get their’s soon…

As if that wasn’t bad enough, I found this - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7195416.stm - on the BBC website.
Some woman had left her daughter home alone while she buggered off abroad on holiday for 6 weeks!!!
This world is in a pretty bad state of affairs at the present time!
