The F1 stewards will meet today to see if there is a case for Lewis Hamilton to answer with regard to his “erratic” driving behind the safety car in last week’s Japanese GP.
There is an amateur video showing the incident, in which Mark Webber (Red Bull) and Sebastian Vettel (Toro Rosso) collided, here at the F1 Fanatic website.
Hamilton has received a lot of criticism from his fellow drivers, not least from Mark Webber and also his team-mate Fernando Alonso. Mark Webber has said in an interview on the radio that it was “s**t driving”.
If he is going to be punished for the incident then I think the appropriate penalty would be a grid penalty. I don’t believe that they will strip him of his points from winning the race, but the world of F1 is very fickle and inconsistent when it comes to dishing out penalties, so who am I to try and second guess the stewards!
Update: Lewis Hamilton will not be punished for “erratic” driving in Japan.
