Last night Gemma and I took the opportunity to go to the cinema, as Ellie was staying at Nana Jenny and Grandad’s house.
We’d decided that we’d go and see “The Bourne Ultimatum”, and we were not disappointed by our choice.
The film is a fast paced thriller, and carries on in the same manner as the other two films in the series. It begins where the previous episode ended with Bourne in Moscow, before he begins jetting around the world in his quest to find out who he really is.
There are visits to Moscow, Paris, London, Madrid, Tangiers and Manhattan. All the while the tension and action carries on, building to a crescendo on a rooftop in Manhattan, where Jason Bourne finally learns who he is.
The action scenes are well choreographed and not over the top as many action films can be. Not least the game of cat-and-mouse in Waterloo station, where Bourne has arranged to meet a journalist who has inside information about a Black-Op named Blackbrier, and Bourne must keep him out of the clutches of the CIA operatives who are closing in on them.
The final car chase is fantastic, as Bourne tries to escape in an NYPD police car, followed closely by an assassin who is assigned to take out Bourne.
The ending leaves you with some unanswered questions amongst the answers that you get about who Bourne really was/is.
Both Gemma and I came out of the cinema thinking how good the film was. We’d both highly recommend it.
